Essex High School Places 2nd at Vermont Debate & Forensic League Speech Tournament

Saturday's meet was the second in a series of six district tournaments in which up to 10 Vermont high schools compete. This tournament was co-hosted by Colchester, South Burlington and Essex High Schools. Students competed in various speech categories over Zoom from their schools, homes or from Essex CHIPS.

Essex High School finished 2nd in the competition held on November 14th. Here are those who placed:

All but two students on the Essex High team are first year competitors. Alex Katsnelson (Extemporaneous Speaking) Tanisha Gerg (Extemporaneous Speaking) Jesse Roberts (Impromptu Speaking), and Emmerson Stapleton (Original Oratory) helped to push Essex to 2nd Place Team for the second time this season!!

Fatima Khan, a junior, placed 1st in Districts last year and went on to compete in the Nationals. She is the Essex High School team captain.
